I am addicted to coffee. I’m not ashamed to admit it. I love the way it tastes, smells, and most of all the ample amounts of energy it gives me. Seriously, I’m not sure how I would live without the stuff. So it’s difficult for me to imagine my life without coffee. Adam Paulin and Alex Kryuk are proposing just that, though. They’ve come out with what is essentially a caffeine bracelet. The bracelet would eliminate the need for coffee and energy drinks, if you so choose, by allowing you to absorb the caffeine through your skin. Crazy, right?
Now, as someone who genuinely enjoys coffee, this is a huge dilemma. The creators say it’s a less expensive way to get your caffeine fix. If you invest now, you could get your Joule bracelet for only $29. The catch is, you have to continually buy the little patches that actually contain the caffeine and the site gives no indication of how much those are going to cost. It’s still a tempting offer, though. No more coffee breath? No more jitters from drinking half a pot in twenty minutes? All of that and I still get my daily amount of caffeine. Doesn’t sound half bad.
There are other downsides, though. Being the basic white girl that I am, I covet my lazy afternoons in Starbucks and of course the Insta pick you get out of it. With this, albeit cute, new bracelet, I lose the chance to go treat myself to a little me time. It also replaces the physical act of drinking coffee. I don’t know about everyone else but one of the joys of coffee is actually consuming it. That little patch on your wrist isn’t going to give you that great taste.
Whether this bracelet becomes popular or not will be left up to the devout caffeine addicts, myself included. I’m definitely going to give it a try and if it doesn’t work then no skin off my back. At least I know I’ll always have coffee to run back to..
