Whether you are relaxing after a long day or slapping the bag, research suggests that indulging some wine is good for your brain. A new study published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience says that winos have acute senses of smell, along with larger, thicker parts of the brain. And because of this thickness, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s are more likely to be prevented compared to thinner-brained people who don’t drink wine. So go ahead and start pouring a glass or four of Chardonnay if you don’t want diseases as such.
“Though we don’t know for sure, there is a possibility that when it comes to the brain, thicker is better,” Dr. Sarah Banks, head of neuropsychology at the Cleveland Clinic in Las Vegas and author of the study mentioned to the New York Post. “It seems like if you have more brain in those areas, it’ll take longer to feel the effects of the disease, but it’s speculation.”
People think there needs to be more research on this theory to make sure it’s accurate. But if a doctor thinks it’s a smart idea, why question it? Banks said the research is “encouraging,” and that even if you aren’t a wine expert, living like one could keep your brain strong.
