Two Brave Men Tried to Save The Sorority Members Killed In Car Crash This Weekend

Earlier this week, we told you about a car accident in Nebraska that claimed the lives of three Sigma Lambda Gamma sisters from Creighton University, plus one of their close friends. Now comes the story of the two men who tried their absolute best to save their lives.

Good Samaritans Mathew Shane and Dustin Harris were returning from Kansas to their homes in Iowa and were behind the car carrying the four victims: Jennifer Guzman, Akuel Majouk, Yoselin Deleon, and Mariana Ramierez. The two men saw the car swerve to avoid a deer, cross the center line and be broadsided by an on-going vehicle, and rushed to help.

Shane and Harris told WOWT 6, “”We ran up and said, “We’re here to help. Can you hear us?” We got no response. There were two other guys with us. We were checking pulses.”

Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful, and the women died at the scene. But the men want the women’s families to know that they did not die alone, saying “We were right there with them. We did everything we could and we tried to help them.”

The GoFundMe campaign the Tau Delta chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma started to assist the families with funeral costs has reached almost half of its goal. To donate and help their loved ones in this time of need, click here.
