This Company’s Sexist Shirt Proves That Grown Men Are Just As Idiotic As College Men

Sexist Shirt

Hey ladies, remember how yesterday was International Women’s Day? In case you somehow managed to bypass every type of social media, Sunday was a day to celebrate women’s accomplishments, equality, and progress. Ironically enough, it was also the day that Salvo Sports, an Indonesian sports clothing manufacturer, issued a half-assed apology for being literal idiots. According to The Mirror, the company released a shirt that may have been funny ten years ago, but the joke is so overplayed that it’s hard to even notice.

“Give it to your woman. IT’S HER JOB.” El oh el. Should she make you a sandwich while she’s at it? Good one. The company posted an apology yesterday, on International Women’s Day, because sometimes life works out in the most hilarious ways. But wait, because you’re going to die when you read how they attempted to apologize and explain its tag that is literally offending thousands of people.

The message is simply, instead of washing it in the wrong way you might as well give it to a lady because they are more capable… There’s no intention to humiliate women. In contrast, (we want to tell the men) learn from women on how to take care of clothes because they pay attention to details… Not all men understand/know how to take care of their own clothes, women are more knowledgeable/experts on such matters… We apologize profusely for any misinterpretations.

IDIOTS. It’s almost too good. Instead of being like, “Hey, we thought it was funny and we messed up, sorry,” the company dug itself into an even deeper hole, oddly reminiscent of when your boyfriend asks if you gained weight and then says something ridiculous like “I don’t like you too skinny anyway!”

These guys must not spend much time with women in the first place. Let’s be real, if they had ever been in the presence of real, live females, they would know that most of us suck at washing clothes. Or hanging clothes. Or anything to do with clothes, really. Our whites still turn out dingy, our delicates get holes, and for the most part, our clothes just live in a giant pile on the closet floor. If I’m going to be honest, my version of “cleaning” this jersey would be to let it sit on the floor for a month, put it in the washing machine (but not turn it on), and then forget about it. Future housewife of America, right here.

The whole thing is absurd, but Twitter users have become outraged. In true “let’s all be offended” style, social media is losing its shit.

I have to hand it to the company, though, they knew that our boys wouldn’t turn the shirt inside out and put in on a warm wash setting with like colors. Our guys would 100 percent hope that when the shirt got smelly enough, we would just wash it for them. But the fact that a bunch of men with actual careers thought it would be a good idea to throw that joke on their brand, is enough to make you feel good about your shitty on-again-off-again relationship with the beautiful-but-dumb guy from your econ class.

So, if you’re having a bad day, just be thankful that you aren’t Salvo Sports right now. Sorry guys, but it looks like you’re the ones who need to do some washing — of your reputation, that is.
