This Ancient Sex Advice Is So Bad It's Incredible

It’s no secret that typical dating and relationship advice from decades past isn’t so awesome for the women by 2015 standards. In an age where we no longer worry about out-earning our prospective husbands and feel totally comfortable talking about our sexplorations at brunch SATC style, we just don’t really need or honestly WANT a whole lot of advice from the Emily Posts of the past.

But Glamour gave it to us anyway. This week the women’s magazine sat a group of women down and recorded their reactions to sex advice spanning from 1680 to 1984.

The fact that something as anti-feminist as “Boys will get an ego boost from your awkwardness” came from 1984 (really not that long ago if you think about it), shows that even though we’ve come a long way, we still have to keep working towards sex positivity. Ladies, let your freak flags fly. If you want to rock an HJ, go for it. Don’t worry about cleaning your apartment if you’re feeling rowdy – just either get someone to help you out or work some stuff out on your own – and never, NEVER worry about whether or not your confidence will intimidate a dude.

Reality is if he is intimidated, he couldn’t handle you anyway.

But she thanks the sisterhood of DG for always letting her crash taco night and helping her find her way out of that frat party where a guy got stabbed with a samurai sword.
