If you’ve been feeling like your Instagram has been lacking lately, then you’re in luck! Self-appointed Queen of Social Media, Kim Kardashian, is here to tell you how you – yes YOU – can also get 28 million followers. Or maybe crack 400. Same thing.
In just five easy, relatable steps, Kim K recently shared the secrets to becoming an Instagram super star for The Hollywood Reporter. I’ll take you through her tips now, so take notes, ladies.
Kim says that you can’t try too hard on the Insta: “I’m feeling good about myself, and I like my outfit or hair and makeup or contouring, I will share it… but I don’t have a method to it.” Because nothing says “nonchalance” quite like Kim Kardashian. She’s just so unscripted and low maintenance. Ugh, she’s the type of girl who can just wake up, throw on a diamond-encrusted Givenchy gown picked out by Kanye, spend two hours in makeup, and just walk out the door. The definition of effortless, that lady.
It’s important to run your own Instagram and not hire a social media team, says Kim. “I don’t have help. No one else runs my social media. It’s whatever I feel like posting. From collages and screen grabs and cropping, it’s a whole process, and I do it.” I can totally relate. I can’t tell you how many times people have offered to run my Instagram and I’ve had to say “Hey, no. I’m doing me. I’m very busy and important, but I’m. Doing. Me.”
Instagram is way more than just a way to share pictures, it’s also a way to keep in touch with your family without having to actually be in the same room or, God forbid, talk to any of them. Kim says that “Being a big sister, I want to know what’s going on in [my sisters’] lives. I can look on Instagram and be comforted in knowing where Kendall is.” Kendall is a known FBI flight-risk, so this is perfectly warranted.
Kim lays down the law when she says “I only like what inspires me. I don’t like it when people post quotes all the time.” This is just inherently hilarious, because Khloé Kardashian practically has a side business posting quotes on Instagram. Hello, free therapy.
Kim claims that she tries “really hard not to promote products… Some people post a couple times a day to promote their products, but I won’t.” This is just a lie, because I have seen energy drinks, waist trainers, and Kardashian Beauty products all over Kim’s feed. But no, like, I totally see what you’re saying. Because promoting their own products didn’t work out for the Kardashians or anything.
So, in conclusion: Okay, Kim. Okay..
