George W. Bush Kills It On The Tonight Show; Gives Jay Leno A Painting Of Jay Leno

I love 43. I think he is the most adorable man in the world, second only to 41, of course. Because let’s be honest, Bush Senior is just killing it with the sock game. You know this, I know this, even Obama knows this. Actually, let’s keep Obama out of this; it’s better for my blood pressure.

Anyway, W. went on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night and was just crushing jokes left and right. He had some one-liners about his time in office, some one-liners about smoking, and you know deep in his back pocket that he had some one-liners about…well, lines…but he kept those to himself. Such a class act, that guy.

During his interview, in which he dished it as much as he took it, President Bush spoke about his life out of office. He talked about the new Bush Library at SMU, his quiet life at home in Dallas, and his health scare a few months back. When Leno probed him about his time out of office and why he’s remained so quiet in regard to Obama’s policies, Bush eloquently stated, “I don’t think it’s good for the country to have a former president criticize his successor.” When asked about his own time in office, he remarked that history will judge him fairly. Let’s just hope that comes sooner rather than later, but I digress.

Because he’s a gentleman, 43 brought the former First Lady along and let me just say, Laura’s still got it. The two discussed their charities, their 36th wedding anniversary, and their new grandchild, Mila. Among the many topics covered throughout the interview, arguably none were as amazing as the topic of painting. Awhile after his second term ended, Bush took up painting after reading Winston Churchill’s book, Painting as a Pastime. He hired an instructor and told her “There’s a Rembrandt trapped in this body. Your job is to find it.” Seriously, this guy with the one-liners. He kills me.

What happened next was nothing short of amazing. Out of nowhere, Bush reaches behind his chair and pulls out, wait for it, an original painting for Jay Leno…of Jay Leno. What a gracious guest. Oh, and the best part? He signed it ‘43.’ Signing your work with your presidential number. TFM.
