Amazing Teen Uses His Yearbook Quote To Come Out In The Most Fabulous Way (Picture)

Gay Teen

With the school year wrapping up, there have been multiple stories of youngins using their yearbook quotes to make some kind of statement. Gone are the days of directing an incorrectly attributed Marilyn Monroe quote at the guy who broke your heart. Oh no. Nowadays people are using their quotes to make actual points, and Maxwell Barrett is no exception.

Barrett, an 18-year old senior at Raritan High School in Hazlet, N.J., used his quote to let his friends and family know something very personal in a very humorous way.

Max looked online to find the perfect “coming out” quote. He chose one he found on Tumblr and tweaked it a bit to make his announcement special. He also considered a quote about fear, but told Today that he ultimately “chose the one about being gay to show that I am proud to be me.”

He told Today that he is getting tons of support since putting this quote in the yearbook and tweeting it out.

I am in awe. I cannot express how amazing it is to see the amount of support I am being given and the love that has been shown towards me. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that people from all different backgrounds are being inspired by my story.

Not only is he showing everyone that you should be proud of who you are, but he’s making us regret our own yearbook quotes just a little bit more.
