You will get dropped from a house you love. Accept it. Get over it.
Plan questions ahead of time to ask the girls you will talk to. Most likely, they are just as nervous as you are, and nothing is worse than awkward silence.
Think of something interesting about yourself to talk about at each house. The girls will be talking to tons PNMs each day, so make yourself stand out.
Become friends with the girls in your recruitment group. Some of them could end up as your sisters, and if not, it’s always nice to see a familiar face around campus.
Plan your outfits for each day of recruitment before you get to school. The process is stressful enough, and you don’t want to worry if the girl you are talking to has noticed the blazer you borrowed from your roommate is a size too big.
Google “sorority recruitment survival kit.” Put those things in a purse. Thank me later.
Bring shoes to change into while you’re walking from house to house. You will not want to wear those brand new heels for eight hours on a hot August day.
Do a little research on the chapters you will visit. Not only will it give you something to talk about, but they will be impressed when you ask about the philanthropy event they did last year that broke the campus record for money raised.
Eat breakfast before each day begins. You will be a lot more fun to talk to if you aren’t counting down the minutes until the lunch break.
If you plan to wear heels, break them in first and master walking in them. Do not be the girl who trips walking down the porch steps.
Learn how to shake hands correctly. Nothing makes a worse first impression than a girl who shakes hands like a dead fish.
Act interested in every house you visit, even one you don’t think is for you. Word travels fast in the Greek community, and you don’t want to be known as the girl who skipped out on a certain house.
Practice eye contact. There is a happy medium between looking at your shoes for 30 minutes and staring so hard into someone’s eyes that it gets awkward. Learn it.
Go through the entire process. There will most likely be a time that you want to drop out, but don’t. Greek life has the capability to change your life. Even if you get dropped from your favorite house, there will be a group of 125 girls waiting for you to run into their arms on Bid Day.
